Leucistic Senegal Bichir

The Leucistic Senegal Bichir is a unique freshwater predator admired for its pale coloration, elongated body, and prehistoric appearance. This hardy species has an eel-like shape, paired pectoral fins, and a distinctive dorsal fin that gives it an ancient look. Senegal Bichirs are generally peaceful toward similarly sized tank mates but are opportunistic predators and may eat fish or invertebrates small enough to fit in their mouths.

Temperament: Generally peaceful but predatory. Best kept with similarly sized, peaceful fish that are too large to be considered prey. Avoid small fish and small shrimp or other tank mates that may be eaten. Provide plenty of hiding places and a secure aquarium lid, as Bichirs are known to be excellent escape artists.

Diet: Carnivorous. Offer high-quality sinking carnivore pellets along with frozen or live foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, shrimp, and pieces of fish. Feed appropriately sized foods and avoid floating foods, as Bichirs prefer to feed near the bottom.
