The Julidochromis marlieri, or Marlier’s Julie, is a slender, elegant African cichlid from Lake Tanganyika, known for its striking horizontal stripes and subtle golden-brown tones. Calm yet territorial, it thrives in rocky, cave-filled environments where it can establish breeding sites. Its graceful movements and patterned appearance make it a captivating addition to well-maintained Tanganyikan aquariums.

Temperament: Generally peaceful but can be territorial, especially when breeding. Best kept in pairs or small groups in a rock-heavy tank with plenty of caves and crevices for hiding and establishing territories. Avoid housing with overly aggressive or much larger fish.
Diet: Omnivorous – accepts high-quality cichlid flakes or pellets, supplemented with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. Occasional vegetable matter helps maintain health.
