Ghost Shrimp are hardy, peaceful freshwater shrimp commonly used as part of an aquarium’s natural cleanup crew. Their nearly transparent bodies give them their unique “ghost-like” appearance while allowing subtle internal markings to be visible. These active shrimp constantly search for leftover food, detritus, and soft algae, helping keep the aquarium clean.
Ghost Shrimp are an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists. They adapt well to a wide range of water conditions and do best in well-cycled aquariums with plenty of hiding places such as plants, moss, driftwood, or rocks. They are social shrimp and can be kept in groups where they will actively explore the tank and contribute to the aquarium’s ecosystem.
